Hi! I'm Dr. Shannon Arvizu and the founder of Epic Teams.

My passion for transforming managers into team leaders can be traced back to when I first gained my chops as a sociologist.

While researching entrepreneurs and movement leaders around the world, I uncovered that today’s managers are motivated by a new kind of leadership, collaborative leadership, which is the defining force of our century.

To meet the challenges of the future, we need game-changing organizations led by managers who cultivate the collective intelligence of their people. To that end, I founded Epic Teams and serve as its CEO and lead developer.

A little more about my background...

Dr. Shannon Arvizu is an organizational sociologist who applies her unique background in behavioral science, positive psychology, and team performance to help Fortune 500 companies and startups develop high performing managers and teams.

Prior to Epic Teams, she held leadership roles at edtech startup, AltSchool, and cleantech startup, Volta. She also served as a Senior Associate at the FrameWorks Institute, a MacArthur Genius recipient, where she designed and delivered award winning workplace training programs for institutions across the country in conjunction with the National Science Foundation. She has taught extensively at Columbia University, where she received her Ph.D. in sociology with an emphasis in technology, organizations, and social movements. Dr. Arvizu has certifications in Positive Psychology Coaching, Group Coaching, Strategic Planning, and Facilitation. She also teaches data-driven leadership courses at General Assembly in San Francisco.
